BT Global Solutions Uses the Intelliden R-Series to Deliver BT Transform Service to U.K. Businesses
--Intelliden Delivers Groundbreaking Step in Network Management by Removing Manual,Error-Prone Processes Through Automation; Solution Provides Full Visibility and Control--
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Sept. 29, 2003 - Intelliden Corporation, the intelligent networking company, today announced that BT Global Solutions is using the Intelliden R-Series™ application to manage its BT Transform Service, which is now fully operational and ready for rollout. Intelliden is the industry's first intelligent networking software solution, providing unparalleled functionality through an automated and intelligent approach to managing large, complex networks.
"When we were in the planning stages for BT Transform, we knew that it would be impossible to deliver the type of differentiated network services clients would want using current methods and approaches for managing the network. The complexity of the network would mean that if we had to rely on manual configuration, BT Transform would prove too expensive and too slow to make it commercially viable," said Gordon Suttie, Vision and Strategy Manager, BT Global Solutions. "We needed a solution that would allow us to manage the network holistically and address the critical pain points in the network, and we found the answer with the Intelliden R-Series. Intelliden's software has allowed us to reduce the likelihood for error associated with manual processes, give us the visibility and control we require and allow us to implement change in shorter time frames. This type of functionality is a groundbreaking step forward for the industry. We believe the ability to automatically reconfigure a network will determine whether some telcos survive or not."
The BT Transform Service enables U.K. businesses to access a broad portfolio of voice, data, video services and applications via a broadband network from a single supplier. At its core, BT Transform is using the Intelliden R-Series solution, which enables networks to operate more intelligently by dynamically responding to business goals, automating network change management, optimizing network resources, streamlining processes and enforcing business policy in network operations. Instead of having to make manual network changes-and risk making errors that could block critical communications-Intelliden enables IT personnel to focus on more important network issues increasing operational efficiency and reducing overall costs.
BT's Transform Service is the U.K.'s first information and communications technology (ICT) business platform based on Internet Protocol (IP) technology, and part of BT Global Solutions, BT's business services and solutions division. Working with Intelliden, BT has been able to realize its vision for BT Transform: to enable U.K. businesses to access a comprehensive range of ICT services from a single, cost-effective, integrated business platform.
The agility of the BT Transform platform, so called because it enables users to transform their businesses simply and cost-effectively, allows users to trial and deploy new applications and services via a "pay as you require" model, as and when there is a business requirement. Due to a combination of scalable bandwidth capacity, flexible delivery and quality of service differentiation, the BT Transform Service can seamlessly integrate any required new business processes, applications and services-such as CRM, content-hosting, storage, business video and managed VoIP-into clients' existing network operations.
"We found a natural fit with BT Global Solutions, as we both share the same fresh perspective on network management-that is, by creating a unified control plane across heterogeneous devices, networks could become more efficient, more cost-effective and easier to manage," said Dale Hecht, CEO, Intelliden. "By abstracting the knowledge of every device and importing it into the Intelliden directory, we are able to automate configuration requirements, dramatically reduce costs and inefficiencies, and eliminate errors through zero touch and a holistic view."
By abstracting the knowledge of every device and importing it into the Intelliden directory, the Intelliden R-Series is able to automate configuration requirements, accelerate service activation, increase network security, reduce operational costs and improve resource optimization. This business-driven approach is known as Intelligent Networking.
As the industry's first Intelligent Networking software solution, the Intelliden R-Series links network and IT resources with business priorities. The Intelliden R-Series provides seamless identification, analysis and resolution of systems and networking issues that can threaten the availability, security, provisioning and compliancy of business-critical network devices. The Intelliden R-Series software suite ensures business continuity via granular control of IP network devices. It notifies users, groups and other applications about device and network changes, while also identifying who did what to the network-where, when and why. Intelliden is able to prevent manual errors and intelligently roll back to an earlier configuration with a few keystrokes, saving both valuable time and money.
Through the use of its knowledge base, the Intelliden R-Series learns about all of the versions of every device, and the unique features of every level of every operating system on the network. Its intelligent use of XML Schema Definition (XSD) means that all commands are validated before they are actually entered into the network. Furthermore, the command line interface for all of the devices is presented as a common GUI interface, with the same look and feel for every device, ensuring conformance across the network.
BT is among several industry-leading customers in key market segments-including financial services, defense, telecommunications and government-that are using Intelliden technology to enable their managed services clients to fully exploit their IP network capabilities, and to cost-effectively deploy applications to meet their business imperatives both today and tomorrow. Intelliden has more than 30 patents pending on its software solutions.
