John Gerdelman was named Chairman of the Board of Directors of Intelliden in April 2000. Mr. Gerdelman is a technology and telecommunications industry veteran, bringing with him 30 years of experience. As Chairman, he drives customer relationships, provides strategic business insights and identifies emerging product opportunities. Mr. Gerdelman is the former President of MCI Telecommunications award winning network and information technology division. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Aviator after graduating with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the College of William and Mary.
Alan Black, President and Chief Executive Officer
Alan Black is responsible for Intelliden's worldwide strategic direction and market share growth. Alan is a highly accomplished international business executive with over 20 years of successful experience in building and managing large global technology companies. He was most recently managing director of Openwave Systems Inc.'s European, Middle Eastern and African operations. Previously, he served as Openwave Systems Inc.'s senior vice president and chief financial officer during the company's Initial and Secondary Public Offerings and completed financing transactions exceeding $1 billion. Mr. Black also has extensive business development experience working with business partners, customers, and investors in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Alan graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He also has a Graduate Diploma from McGill University and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Timothy Barrows, Director
Timothy Barrows, a Matrix Partners' General Partner, has served as a Director of Intelliden since September 2000. Mr. Barrows has more than 14 years of experience in the venture industry, investing in early-stage information technology companies. He has been a General Partner of all five Matrix Partnerships. Prior to joining Matrix, Mr. Barrows worked in the corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions departments of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets. Mr. Barrows graduated from Williams College, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a major in political economics, and from Stanford University with a master's in business administration.
Steven Haley, Director
Steven Haley joined the Intelliden Board of Directors in January 2002. Since November, 2006, Mr. Haley has been President & COO of Xsigo Systems. Before joining Xsigo, Mr. Haley was founder & president of a private investment and asset management company which he still owns. Previously, Mr. Haley was the former founding Executive Officer and Vice President of Worldwide Operations, Sales and Service for Juniper Networks. Prior to joining Juniper Networks, Mr. Haley was Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Telco/Service Providers and Vice President, Sales for WAN Products at Cisco Systems. Prior to Cisco Systems, Mr. Haley spent nearly seven years in Managing Director, GM and VP roles with StrataCom (acquired by Cisco). Mr. Haley attended Boston College and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he earned his degree in business.
Joel Kellman has served on Intelliden's board of directors since June 2008. Mr. Kellman is a co-founder of Granite Global Venture Capital. Previously, he was a founder and longtime partner of the
Stan Reiss, Director
Stan Reiss joined the Intelliden Board of Directors in November 2001. Mr. Reiss is a General Partner at Matrix Partners. Previously, he was a manager at McKinsey & Company, working in its electronics practice. Mr. Reiss holds a bachelor of science in electrical engineering with distinction from Cornell University, as well as a masters of science in electrical engineering and masters of science in operations research from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his research focused on optical communications networks. He also holds an M.B.A. with high distinction (Baker Scholar) from Harvard Business School.
Jon Shantz, Director
Jon Shantz has deep experience in the networking and communications industries. Jon is a highly respected professional in the communications industry and serves as an advisor and board member for a number of privately held companies. His experience includes the role of Senior Vice President of Business Development at Openwave Systems. Prior to Openwave, he was General Manager of the Mobile Business Unit of Cisco Systems. Earlier at Cisco, he developed and led the Cisco Powered Networks, a premier industry alliance program, and spent several years developing new market initiatives. Prior to Cisco, Shantz oversaw most of the data networking initiatives at BT in the United Kingdom. Shantz spent the first 10 years of his career at Bell Labs and Bellcore in the services development and data networking areas.
