Intelliden R-Series Software Suite Now Provisions Cisco IP VPNs
--Industry's First and Most Extensible Open APIs Provide Seamless Cisco IP VPN Management--
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., April 29, 2004 - Intelliden Corporation, the intelligent networking company, today announced the availability of the Intelliden IP VPN Manager to provision Cisco Internet Protocol (IP) Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). With this addition, Intelliden customers can easily activate and provision Cisco IP VPNs, including MPLS and IPSec, and finally migrate their Frame Relay, ATM and Layer 2 Traffic onto one consolidated Wide Area Network. The Intelliden IP VPN Manager's Web-based GUI and open APIs provide an unprecedented level of IP VPN automation for zero-touch activation and service management.
"Currently, provisioning applications are focused on a narrow set of requirements to activate specific services that typically do not encompass the entire desired implementation," said Rich Ptak, partner at Ptak, Noel & Associates. "Often these tools are vendor-specific and do not include any workflow. These shortcomings force users to implement multiple tools for engineers to provide a single service in the network."
"The Intelliden IP VPN Manager solves this problem," Ptak continued. "By using the Intelliden IP VPN Manager, customers can now perform automated, end-to-end IP VPN service activation and provisioning with the desired implementation. Users can define their own services and eliminate excess overhead. In addition, by utilizing Intelliden's APIs and vendor-agnostic VPN implementation, customers can provide multivendor IP VPN automation to quickly and efficiently address business priorities."
The Intelliden IP VPN Manager enables customers to automate end-to-end service activation and provisioning along with change management and configuration management of network devices. Users can design their own VPN implementations, including MPLS, IPSec, QoS, etc., in parallel with the same infrastructure (topology) and enhance existing services without the need for custom coding. For example, engineers can implement Access Control Lists to layer enhanced security with the VPN delivery in literally minutes. In conjunction with the standards-based APIs, businesses can fully automate IP VPN provisioning for zero-touch service enablement.
Intelliden's model-based architecture provides the foundation for service management; this knowledge base provides a XML map of the device capabilities and services within a network. Intelliden's unique, patent-pending, model-based architecture is the key to automation and is a critical component to reliably validate and implement highly scalable VPN solutions. Just as the PC has become plug-and-play with the evolution of DOS to Windows, so is the network with automation of CLI to the Intelliden R-Series software.
"Intelliden's IP VPN Manager allows customers to efficiently and accurately deliver VPN provisioning while lowering the costs associated with service delivery. Our model-based architecture exposes our service capabilities and understanding through the Intelliden IP VPN Manager. This is not just a simple silo implementation of a VPN," said Dale Hecht, Intelliden president and CEO. "This is an important achievement for telcos, managed services providers, businesses and government organizations managing dynamic, adaptive VPN services, because they can now leverage the Intelliden IP VPN Manager to automatically provision their complex implementations. We look forward to bringing the benefits of the Intelliden IP VPN Manager to customers worldwide."
The Intelliden IP VPN Manager provides automated service delivery, customizable VPN service definition, integrated security establishment and intelligent service recovery. The Intelliden R-Series clustered architecture provides distributed VPN provisioning, allowing individual servers to independently implement VPNs throughout the network quickly and reliably. It is aware of conflicting changes to service implementations and provides intelligent service recovery. Provisioning becomes intelligent when it implements business processes in conjunction with activation and service management. The intelligence from the combination of these two provides a powerful solution for making the network a strategic asset.
