Intelliden John Strassner Local Host For IEEE's IM 2003 Conference
--Conference Gathers Integrated Network Management Industry Luminaries, Furthers Discussion on Autonomic Computing, Developments in Worldwide Information Infrastructure--
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., March 24, 2003 - Intelliden Corporation, the leading provider of business-driven device management software, today announced that its chief strategy officer, John Strassner, inventor of Directory Enabled Networks (DEN), is the local chair for IFIP/IEEE’s International Symposium on Integrated Network Management, a bi-annual conference focusing on the role that new integrated management solutions play in the worldwide information infrastructure.
The conference, which takes place March 24-28, 2003, at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, will include keynote speakers such as IBM’s Alan Ganek, vice president, Autonomic Computing, and James L. Becker, executive vice president of Qwest Enterprises.
Intelliden’s Strassner is the inventor of Directory Enabled Networks (DEN), a new paradigm for managing and provisioning networks and networked applications. He is a former Cisco Systems fellow who was instrumental in setting the direction for directory and policy-enabled products and technologies within Cisco. In addition to chairing the local committee for IM2003, he also co-chairs the IETF LDUP working group.
“IM2003 is an event where the best minds in the industry come together for lively discussion and examination of developments having a profound effect on the course of information infrastructure’s maturity,” said Dale Hecht, Intelliden president and CEO. “Facilitating such events is a privilege and spotlights the contributions that John Strassner and Intelliden are making to advance industry knowledge.”
John Strassner is contributing to the body of knowledge and discussion surrounding technology advancements in network management through his work on DEN and by Intelliden’s development of its Intelliden R-Series software suite, which creates the foundation upon which autonomic, adaptive networks can be built. Intelliden’s latest release of its solution enables dynamic network configuration by allowing organizations to effectively create and execute mass changes to the network with full versioning, reporting and auditing. This capability, called Command Sets™, allows simultaneous network changes to reliably and automatically occur, and significantly reduces costs, errors and time-consuming tasks associated with manual network configuration.

“When the network is attacked, every second counts. Automated device configuration is critical to quickly isolate the virus or denial-of-service, applying the fix and returning the network to its previous state,” said Glen Tindal, Intelliden chief technology officer. “That’s what the Intelliden R-Series does. With our software’s capabilities, Intelliden customers have built-in disaster recovery and security plans.”
