Intelliden Presents Policy-Based Device Management to Policy 2002 Attendees
--Position Paper Details How Network Policies Can Streamline Device Management--
MONTEREY, Calif., June 5, 2002 - Intelliden Corporation, a leading provider of business-driven device management solutions, will present a position paper on how policy-based networks can simplify device management today from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Policy 2002: IEEE 3rd International Workshop on Policies for Distributed Systems and Networks.
“Policies can be used to govern network behavior, and help move the network from a cost center to a profit center,” said Dale Hecht, Intelliden president and CEO. “By employing business rules and policies to automate network device configuration and control, enterprises and service providers can increase operational efficiency, improve network optimization and generate higher margins.”
Intelliden Chief Strategy Officer John Strassner will present “How Policy Empowers Business-Driven Device Management” to Policy 2002 attendees. Evaluated for its technical contribution, originality and significance, the paper is one of only 13 selected from 67 submissions to the conference.
Strassner’s presentation will focus on how network policies can enhance device management by taking a holistic approach that includes both users and processes. Different users and services have different needs, and policy is the tool that applies the appropriate process according to business priority. This enables network services to be adjusted in response to the changing environment by providing dynamic and automatic configuration of the appropriate network devices according to business rules of the organization.
Strassner, a former Cisco Systems fellow, is the inventor of Directory Enabled Networks (DEN) and a frequent speaker at industry conferences around the world.
